Environmental History

Stonehouse Research provides specialist skills in environmental history: the study of the interactions between people and place in the past. We have worked with natural resource managers, aquatic ecologists, botanists and others to deliver community wellbeing, sustainability and precautionary objectives. Projects have included understanding the Sydney botanic gardens in the global context, invasive species in Australian settler environments, producing data about oyster reefs in colonial NSW coast and oral histories from fishing communities in the Murray-Darling Basin.
