Mina Rawson’s Cookbooks

Mina Rawson, colonial Queensland

This project is an exploration of the life of the famous cookbook writer Mina Rawson, who published under the name Mrs Lance Rawson. She was born in Sydney in 1852, but lived most of her adult life in Queensland. This biographical project explored memoir, newspaper journalism, short stories, cookbooks, fairy stories and other writings of the subject. Other archival resources included births deaths and marriages, land records, electoral records, hansard, Rawson deposit at State Library of Queensland, maps and surveys, Queensland legislation and local historical societies. Stonehouse Research has produced a novel manuscript, a draft screenplay and a podcast.
